I have been working very hard at my flasking business and especially my website in recent months. I invite you all to take a look at the expanded list of species I am offering. Here is a recent picture of the flask room.

I guess you have been working hard !!! That looks like about 1000+/- flasks. Way to go, Marni. Do you deflask to ship? Do you flask only your own seed?

Kelly, I have space under lights for about 3300 flasks (there are 3 more sets behind where I was standing) and I am about to put in more shelves. If it is OK with the customer, I prefer to deflask them. I've found the plants get less banged around that way. For my retail flasks (the list you just looked at) it is mostly seed from my collection, but I do have some things that other people have shared with me. I also do work for proprietary customers who give me seed and order the quantity they want, but I filled up the amount of work I can do for others very quickly and no longer accept new customers. There is a limit to what I can do and still keep up my standards.

This is truly a gold mine in terms of nice species. And the quality of the plants I have seen is first class. :)

Very nice list. Wish the cost to Canada wasn't so high. Wonderful set-up.

Mark, I don't know where you are in Canada, but more and more of my Canadian customers are having stuff shipped to one of those "shipping services" in the US along the border, so if that's an option, I highly recommend considering it.

As an idea of the comparison, I recently shipped a 27# package for one. If I had shipped it directly, using the postal service, the cost would have been $48. By shipping it to a service in the US via FedEx Ground, the cost was $9.88. The customer had a 2-hour round trip, but I am pretty sure they didn't burn $38 in fuel.

Apparently there is no issue carrying plants over the border - I don't know if they're declared or not (likely not) - but it goes on frequently.

I got a couple of flasks a few weeks ago and was once again very pleased with how healthy the seedlings were. Kudos Marni :) ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363610324.986888.jpg

Thanks for the kind words. The business is going very well and I'm trying to keep up. I have very little time right now to photograph things in bloom to post, but hope to get back to that very soon.

Very heathly indeed. What flasks did you get?

I'm on the waiting list for L. speciosa.

    Angraecoids of course . . .

Hi, my name is Sarah and I'm an Angraecoid Addict -- and I have no intention of completing the 12-step program. :)

That flask of Masdevallia antonii sure is tempting. Once I have the space for 25 seedlings, you can count on an order from me.

They have slowed down over the winter so I am hoping it is seasonal and they will go back in to growth soon.
