When mounting seedlings what is a proper size/good size for the mount? Does it matter? I am using ceder wood for my epidendrum magnoliae seedlings.

I don't think it really matters. Too big of a mount won't hurt the plant( or really change anything). It just might look a little odd.

Personally, I go with whatever size I want it to be when it's mature.

I think 3" X 3" is adequate for a mature plant of that species.
