    Hi everyone,

The move to the new software and server is complete. I still plan to spruce up the look of the site a bit but other than that the changes are completed. There may or may not be some permissions issues that we might need to tackle, so let me know if you had access to something in the past but now do not.

Furthermore, I wanted to take a few minutes to give you some brief information on me. My name is Brent Wilson and I am 26. I have run forums since I started my first one at age 17. I recently sold that forum and have been on the lookout for other quality forums that I could buy and improve in fields of interests that I have.

I was contacted by Enrique about purchasing not only this site but a few others as well. I agreed and so we moved on with the process.

I hope that I can help make Orchids Interactive a thriving community and plan to keep things as simple and straight forward as I can here.

With that said, I would like to gauge how many of you would like to see the User Albums return? We can always have a individual forum dedicated to posting pictures of your Orchids. I believe that would keep things simple. It would be one less thing to keep up with as well.

Look forward to hearing your feedback!

I have no interest in the albums.

I don't see this thread showing up in the what's new search results. Is there a reason for this?

It will only show up if there is a new post since the last time you checked it out. If you clicked on it from my message it would have been removed.

My only question is, why is the honeymoon forum ad-free, while ours is plastered?

That forum was spammed badly and I feared putting ads on it for that reason. I will gladly grandfather in members here who have helped build Orchids Interactive to where it is now into a supporting member group that doesn't see ads.

I will add you to it now :)

The ads-free option works for me!

I had a link in my Google bookmarks for "Today's Posts" that is gone. It let me see all of the posts for the day, leaving bold the ones I hadn't looked at. With the What's New link, I have to get to the top of the page (which I can do) but it leaves out anything that I had looked at but want to go back to. So if I do a quick scan of current posts thinking I'll go back soon and post replies, they aren't there. Can we or do we still have this and is there a url I can add to bookmarks that takes me there?

Are you clicking on the threads and viewing them? It *should* not get rid of any threads or posts that you have not read as long as you do not actually click to view the thread.

No, I click on the thread and look. Then I want to go back to it in a few minutes.

There used to be both a What's New and a Today's Posts.

I was about to post and ask if you could make my version ad free as well, but it looks like you already took care of that . Thanks Brent!

Another thing, when viewing the main page, the sub-forums that had new posts had some kind of indication that was different than the rest (the little icon to the side of the sub-forum would be colored in or the description would be bolded, for example). Right now, it seems to be at random. All are colored in/bolded except "Culture Sheets", "Vendor FYI", "Other Hobbies", and "Pets and wildlife".

I don't believe there is a Today's post but I will double check to see if it is possible somehow.

I am seeing some images as thumbnails and some full sized. Is there a setting that I can change to see all full sized or is that a function of how they were posted?

I believe that is a scenario of where you are on the forum. If you could get a screenshot or point to specific areas I could probably be a bit more specific.

Here are two examples, but I may have already found my anwer. I used the Upload a file button to insert these and noticed that there is the choice of Insert every image as a thumbnail or full image. Recently I have been using an image link in the text to link to pictures. I went back and looked at some older posts of mine and notice that they show up as thumbnails too.I inserted the two screen shots with the full sized option.

I don't know about others, but I would prefer to see them full size rather than enlarging one and using the forward/back arrows. Maybe others prefer thumbnails. Or maybe others aren't seeing it the same way.

You are welcome. I want to work with everyone that made this site what it is. I understand I am an outsider right now and just want to know that you guys are what make the site so I want it to be yours to enjoy.

Going forward the past attachments may not show up full size because of the way that the old forum software and new software worked when I moved. Though any new attachments you upload you will have the option of including the full size.

I will increase the thumbnail size to a larger size now, so that even if you don't include the full size you will have a better look at the image as a thumbnail.

I have set it to 500px. Unfortunately there is no way for me to rebuild attachments to this size at the moment. All new attachments will be this size though.
