    Exceptionally nice Armando.

I'm in greenhouse frustration mode and have been for a year or so. You know: gotta have one but can't come to grips with the cost of doing it right (and doing it wrong isn't an option). I've been focused on the 8x12 Cross Country kit but the kit's $5K alone and by the time I add bells & whistles, foundation, plumbing, heating, cooling, etc. I figure $10K might cover it. Might.

I figure in order to spend what's necessary on the right controls I need to drastically cut the cost of the structure itself. I'm guessing you may have gone through the same process before designing yours - i.e. compare the cost of building it yourself vs. buying a kit. Can you share your findings and tell us whether you'd do it this way again? Thanks in advance.

Gawd, that is heaven, Armando. I am the ugliest color of green right now that you've ever seen.

    That is beautiful.

The Cross Country Brand is made by B C Greenhouses and is also sold under the brand name Solargro by Charley's. It's very possible if you buy it directly from B C you will save some $. It's the same brand kit that I'm currently erecting. B C has the BEST customer service. I bought my 10 yr. old (new) kit second hand and they have been bending over backwards to help me put it together with no directions. They have no $ to gain from me, obviously but they sure stand behind their products. And to me that goes a long way.

As kits go this one is much easier to assemble than my other g.h. was...and worth the $$.

I think custom made g.h.'s like Armando's are great, but for the constuctionally challenged, a kit makes complete sense. Sorry to hijack the thread, Armando;>

That's an awesome set up! I love that you have space specifically for the mounted orchids. More pictures please when it's filled with plants!

I am not Armando, but from what I know about Kits, is that take whatever you are going to spend on the kit and double it (or more). Most kits don't come with everything you need, plumbing, electricity, timers, heaters, coolers, overhead watering, etc. From my limited exposure to what it takes it does not seem like the shell is the expensive part, whether that be custom or kit.

That's awesome, I'm drooling with envy. Did you leave a space for a couch and a flat screen T.V.? ;)

Looks like you have done your homework. Just a tip. The ceailing fans are a nice touch but in time you will find they are not near as effective as you think. Also, waliking on a gravel floor will become quite burdensome in time. You might want to consider adding some stepping stones. I must say you have done a very impressive job. I do hope you have plans for more air circulation.
