My Orchidarium build

So started my build this week and thought I would share the progress with you all. So started by putting in my egg crate floor, arranging my cork park and sticking a bunch of expanding foam everywhere.


As you can see I have added plant pots into it as well for slotting some plants into, also a reservoir, pipe and pump for a little waterfall. Went at all the foam with a craft saw to give it more shape.


Then coated it all with a combo of brown silicone and 'Eco Earth' then added a thin later of aquarium foam over the crate, some stones around the edge to keep things tidy and a layer of coco husk stuff.



I have started to add a bit of greenery. Its a very hot day today and temp is 25.9 inside and 83% Humidity. Fans are not on at the moment as I have bought 2 lots of fans and both are too noisy, so Im going to put them on a timer so they are just on at night.

 

Oh and LED lighting is on the way as is a misting set up

 

Im not sure I can run them any slower they are wired into a 12volt LED driver.

I get the need for fans during the day to help with temperature, but as the temps wont be getting that high in there its more just air circulation, so the air would be recirculating for about 11 hours each night, then a more still and humid daytime

 

Good call, I just ordered the same from Amazon, looks like a nice simple plug and play as Im not good with electrics!

 

So pretty much everything is now up and running! MistKing system set up, after much swearing at the timer! Its going to go off for 2 mins every day. I was hoping to set it up for 30seconds every 4 hours to give a more stable humidity but the timer doesn't seem to allow for multiple start/stop times. replaced the whole fan unit with an AC infinity unit, with one flowing air in and one flowing air out. I have set it so it turns off just before spraying starts then on again after, other than that its running permanently on a medium setting. MIGROW lighting is up and a beautiful piece of kit, really substantial and well made, they have a dimming control on them too so I can turn down the intensity if needed. They have upped the temp a few degrees so will be monitoring temp and humidity to see what sort of orchids will fare best in my set up.

Once I get it properly planted up inside I shall take photos without the glass doors on as the window reflects off the glass a lot during the day.
