Oh wow! Toucans are my absolute favourite bird. I had a Keel-billed Toucan (Ramphastos sulfuratus) that passed away in pneumonia very tragically.
This is a Green Aracari (Ramphastos sulfuratus.) right?

They are so social, intelligent and playful! :)

Super cool! How loud and how messy are they? I'm guessing both are on the high side? I used to have a parrot and he was REALLY loud and really messy. At the time I wasn't into angs or even plants, otherwise I would have taught him to say all the botanical latin names for my favorite Angs.

I want one!! or rather not! before developing a severe allergy to feathers I had dozens of birds...With parrots, toucans require a great deal of attention and care...they are not as noisy as cockatoos but they are messy with semi liquid droppings and a ability to shoot them horizontally! :) ( and with their diet, that is often).
With my allergy, I had to find myself a different hobby.. and while it is always a sad to have a favorite orchid wither and die, it is nowhere near the pain you experience when one of your big bird dies.

That is an incredibly cool pet! I've known people with parrots, cockatoos etc etc, but never a toucan. I didn't even know that was possible. Obviously he (she?) has a big personality. :D

I forgot I had this thread here...he is very friendly. Yes he is a green aracari. As for messiness, I used to have a green cheek conure, and this toucan is 100x cleaner. The poop is liquid and cleans out of carpet very easy, so no stains.
As for noise, the reason I got a toucan was because of all of the reading I did that they were supposed to be quiet...well it was until about 3 months ago. Now, if the bird knows I am home and I dont take it out of the cage, it makes this shrieking noise louder than anything I have heard...once it is out of the cage though he is completely quiet and doesnt make a peep.
