Hi, I'm new here except for lurking a bit (not usually much of a talker). Excellent information and photos! I've been growing orchids for a couple of years, though I've been around orchids and orchid people since childhood as my father is a fellow addict. I hope I'm beginning to exit my newbie period because the dead plants are starting to pile up... :(

I mostly collect Bulbophyllums (primarily cirrho types) and Dendrobiums (nobile types), plus various other things that have intrigued me for some reason (like during my brief Encyclia phase). I currently focus on little stuff because I grow indoors on a few big windowsills, with some plants recently migrating to my cube at work to take advantage of conditions there.

Anyway, thanks for such an excellent forum! Good signal-to-noise ratio here. I expect I'll be posting some questions fairly soon.

Thanks for the kind welcomes! This is a picture of one of my 4 kitchen windows last December or January, you can see Bulb. gracillimum blooming and Bulb. auratum flavum getting ready to. This window is much more crowded now. I'll see if I can find any other pictures of my growing spaces.

I do like beer and am enjoying one right now. Do you like beer?

Thanks! Aside from feeling a little over my head right now on sheer number of plants, I like my collection a lot.

Sounds about right, judging by the stage of the snowmelt outside. I think that snow fell on 12/20 or 12/21 last year. Were you able to read that off the file or is this just a good guess? You'd think I would know what my own files are saying, but...

Nat if I download your photo and then go to Windows Explorer and right click on the photo, selecting "Properties" I can find the info under the Summary tab by clicking Advanced>>>.

Thanks Pook! Today I learned to click all the buttons in the properties dialog before I give up!

Not sure about some of those details, though. Based on the light in the west window and my typical habits I'm pretty darn sure I didn't take that photo at 5:43 AM...
