07BA22C8-53F6-46F8-922D-9958C965ACA8.jpeg Iris, this is a hybrid.
You said that you just got this old favorite. Twenty-five years ago it was very popular. Maybe it is making a come back.
It is a very hardy plant and not picky about it’s environment. Can take temps from 35F to over 100F. Humidity over 40% is OK, and not fussy about light. Water once or twice a week, letting it dry between waterings. Can bloom anytime and often blooms a couple of times a year. Quick growing, as compared to most orchids.
Many oncidium hybrids look like Gower Ramsey. We call it dancing Dutch girls. Very good plant for novice growers to get their confidence up.

Thank you for your valuable insights on this plant. Yes, it is new to me. Humidity and temps should not pose a problem for my plant. I live in a tropical island. I am planning on grouping a collection of oncidiums. So far have four varieties. Warm regards, Iris
