This is Speckled Spire 'whisp' beginning to bloom. Its definitely among my favorite orchids. I really like the brown spots. I am wondering if its normal for the buds at the end of the spike to develop and open first...first time seeing this one flower so I have no past comparison. Nice hybrid. Sometimes (but not always) the buds, which are dormant now, later will develop new branches on the spike.

As these flowers get older I have noticed a light fragrance that is difficult to describe.....sweet and mellow I would say. There are other budding branches that are a putting on noticeable growth now too. :) IMG_20150618_075049.jpg

My blooms are turning a creamy yellow as time goes by. I really love this hybrid. IMG_20150630_151429846.jpg
