Orchid roots deliberately cut off

Hi there, a cleaner came over the weekend to clean my house when I was not at home. She "trimmed" most of the roots from my orchid. It originally had so many roots growing outside the pot you could hardly seen the pot, now she's cut most of the roots, it's so heartbreaking. Is there any way my orchid can survive this trauma?
