    Hi Forum!

    Quick intro from me;

    Well.. I purchased a Phal for my mum a year ago (xmas) and a second one for myself, as they were really impressive in M&S......

    Anyway, since then, for some strange reason, I have been purchasing orchids ever since and it this is getting worse with no sign of remission.... and I can only put it down to some kind of disorder/disease I picked up from buying the first one!

    I now have the obligatory Phals, Dendrobiums, Oncidiums, Leptotes, Masadevallia, Coelogyne and just received my first Vanda :) but I still have the urge to obtain more...

    I Joined this forum as my search fo a cure found this forum and I recognise that many of you may have the same affliction and could possibly aid me with controlling and living with this affliction?

    I look forward to roaming the threads, learning more and discussing orchids with you all soon!

    Cheers.

    Nearly the exact same thing happened for me. I had always bough the little "Better Gro" brand Cattleya hybrids from an apartment store nearby my house. Always thought they were interesting, but nothing too much. Many, many years passed when someone bought me a mini-phal which reignited the interest. I started looking around and purchased a "5 assorted Paphiopedilum orchids" from Carter & Holmes and my addiction spread like wildfire from there. Best purchase I had ever made, honestly.

    Fortunately, there doesn't seem to be a cure for this. ;)

    Welcome to the forum! What kind of environment do you grow under, as that is quite an assortment.

    Thanks guys n girls,
    I have a large conservatory, North and East facing. Plenty of shade. I'm keeping it around 15 degrees at night and in summer it gets up to a maximum of about 28/29. It actually tipped 32 once or twice last yr but the Phals & Oncs seemed to thrive. I have fans running and good ventilation via windows and double doors left open to the east, De humidifier for the winter = pure water for the plants. and I'm using Focus grow/bloom fertilisers. I'm now looking at humidifiers for the summer just to help out a bit.
