Orquifollajes in Medellin

    During a recent trip to Medellin, Colombia, I was able to make a short visit to Orquifollajes, Ltd., owned by Francisco Villegas in the suburb of Copacabana. Apparently, he has several locations, but this one is the primary site. A lot of glorious native species and numerous hybrids, including some unregistered. English is not spoken by the regular staff, but plenty of inviting and friendly service, information, conversation, and great on-site prices were obtained with a modicum of Spanglish. As a side benefit, Medellin has become a great cultured city - lots of good restaurants, and artisanal clubs for Latin R&R and jazz!

    They are delightful people. I have bought from them in Redlands and San Francisco and have fair prices on generous divisions.

    I have bought from them also, at WOC 2008, very generous divisions of species in the 10 to $15. range. I wasn't going to buy but his things were too good to resist!
