Paphiopedilum bellatulum

    I got this in a flask from Equatorial Plants Co., deflasked in August 2008. Now it is blooming for the first time, 3 years and 7 months later. :) I love the round shape and color reminiscent of vanilla ice cream ...wonderful!

    I grow it intermediate, medium to low light and evenly moist all year, just slightly drier November-April planted in a mixture of bark and volcanic rock, with no added calcium.

    Nice growing! Did you keep many of the seedlings? Are others looking ready to bloom?

    Thank you Marni! I only kept this one, traded the rest of the seedlings long ago. I am very pleased to see it bloom. I just love Brachys... :)

    I don't know much about Paphs but I do recognize a well-grown plant when I see it. Great growing, Karma.

    looks great but are you sure it's a bellatulum?
    maybe a cross?
    can you take a pouch photo from the side?

    The flower is lovely but not pure bellatulum; perhaps wenshanense or some similar hybrid.

    Thanks everyone!! I have gotten many people suggesting it is not a pure bella... as much as that bums me out, I have asked Dick at Equatorial about this plant, and I will get you a profile photo tomorrow Bri. Thanks guys, I would love to figure out what I have got.
