Here's a couple of siblings from this Paph Ho Chi Minh x malipoense cross:
Beautiful! Are they fragrant?
I have not noticed...
Are any paphiopedilums fragrant?
malipoense smells of raspberries
but there are many that do
maybe 1/5 of the genus, but that may be a stretch
Not surprisingly, one looks like Lynleigh Koopowitz (delenatii x malipoense) and the other looks more like Wossner Butterfly (malipoense x vietnamense).
The most reliably fragrant species are Paph malipoense (raspberry or pine) and Paph delenatii (rose). Both contribute to this hybrid. A few other species can be, but not always entirely pleasant - hangianum, emersonii, kolopakingii - and less commonly spicerianum, philippinense, concolor perhaps others. Even the best can be hit or miss, and scent is often lost in hybrids.
