Anybody have any experience with this vendor? I've been looking for Dendrobium bellatulum, and they're one of the few online vendors who have it in stock. Thanks in advance! -Stephen

I believe they've been out of business for a few years now. They're site is just left up for some reason.

Sorry to tell you it had been closed for few years now. I had bought some nice species from them while they were in business.

You should have no problem to locate that species. Andy P or Marni T. may have them. Marni at least has the flask now.

I saw some of Andys at SEPOS, and they were yellow orangish. Could this be a phenomena of temperature? Where the anthocyanin intensifies with lower temperatures. The reason I ask is, Marni, are yours progeny of a terrific red lip? Or is this amber color across the board with the current crop bellatums in the US right now?

Daniel, I've never noticed the color being affected by culture, but more by country of origin. I recently spoke to a Malaysian orchid vendor and was showing him a picture of a bellatulum I had photographed and he commented "Oh, that's the Thai form." I just saw a beautifully grown one at the San Francisco meeting tonight but it was not as colorful as others I have seen and the culture was fantastic.

The ones I am offering in flask are not my seed and I haven't seen the parents, though I haven't yet bloomed any the source is reputable. It is supposed to have a dark red lip instead of just red on the side lobes. I also got some of an alba form and have one of those in bud. Time will tell.

Petite Plaisance closed in April 2008.

Marni, if you wind up having any for sale at some point, I'd be grateful if you could let me know. Not such an easy species to locate, and I've been looking for a bit. -Stephen

I was tempted to buy some of Michael's Ooi's just because they beared the bellatum epithet, but thought better when I actually saw his plants.

Peter had some too, of the same saturation as I recall.
