    Can we substitute pine bark with other media? Fern fiber may be?

    You may try fern fiber ... just keep everything in shade and pour frequently. When the small shots formed nice roots on the fern fibers it will be important to place them in soil so that the young plants can feed. I guess you will enjoy your Phaius even more now ...

    This is good...
    We need to grow more of them I think, as the plants in its natural habitat are getting scarce. And waiting for them growing naturally takes some times

    Nisa, your last post makes me happy! The more Phaius tankervilleae are grown in gardens, the more seeds will spread from ripe seedpods! This will finally help this species to survive in free nature ...

    Yes, sure. It is sad to see people brought wild orchids to their garden to plant, then kill it as they don't know how to treat them rightly. I hope propagate the plants at home will provide an alternative for the people to have orchids without endanger those in their habitat

    Maybe next time you bind the flower stalks to solid sticks to avoid breaking. Let the seedpods ripen and allow the wind to spread the seeds. Then cut the stems and try to grow them ... you will see, this is something really satisfying!

    So, the seeds are able to grow without any aid?
    I have some spathoglottis too, and they have seedpods too. but I have never seen them grow

    Only those seeds will germinate and grow that are lucky enough to meet their mycorrhizal fungus. The chance is low, but only if the seeds are spread by wind (or by you) there is any chance. Which Spathoglottis do you grow?

    Spathoglottis plicata if I am not mistaken. the one with purple flowers

    Yes, all the year along, they never ceased to bloom
    Here, we could find them in the wild easier than phaius, and easier to care too

    Turned out I still have the old flower stem. I want to try to propagate it as what you told me. Wish me luck
