This is one of my favorite phals-- the colors are just irresistible, and so vibrant.

(Taisuco Firebird x Minho Princess) 'SH' This one is just opening. I'll have to re-post when it's open fully. I like the small flares on each petal/sepal.

The Penang Girl is fragrant. I think it smells mostly like the venosa parent, so I don't find the fragrance that appealing. (I don't care for venosa's fragrance, though I love the fragrance of bellina and violacea)

The second one is a small seedling. This is its second blooming, last year the wee little guy gave it a first attempt, but only two flowers. This year's spike is much larger. Not a bad flower-- quite flat.

Beautiful phals! My very favorite orchid, I have about 100 now.
I have read that P. Penang Girl is a remake of P. Princess Kaiulani (P. violacea x P. amboinensis). Do you know if this is so?

Penang Girl is violacea x venosa, while Princess Kaiulani is violacea x amboinensis. Often, Princess Kaiulani has heavier markings due to the amboinensis.

One big sticking point with both hybrids is simply... which violacea? Many were made before bellina and violacea were separated into different species. For a long time, they were both considered violacea, just different varieties, and the breedings were registered under "violacea", but often were actually what is now considered bellina. I honestly don't know if the CR clone of Penang girl used bellina (aka violacea v. borneo) or violacea.
