    Looks like the growing point died, so a dormant bud started. Lucky.

    I have had the basal sprouts like this occur on Phal. schilleriana when I rotted the crown. Good luck with it.

    Are there any live roots? Looks like it desperately needs repotting.

    No live roots repotting is next on the agenda
