I was a member of another orchid forum that has since closed down and what I miss from it is that I could click on an orchid name and all the posts with photos for that orchid would come up in alphabet order so you could scroll down and see any variations for an ID, you could also read the posts.
The forum was Orchids On Line (OOL) Some this forum members might have been members of it also
It was call Orchids A to Z, what you would do is click on the title where it was on the main page, this would give you a new page listing the alphabet then clicking on a letter for example "B' this would again bring up a new page with all orchid families starting with a 'B' listed, from this page you could click on say Bulbophyllum and the next page would list in alphabetical order all the Bulbophyllums that had images and posts on the site from here you could scroll down to the species or hybrid name you were looking for and view all the images. The hybrids were listed at the top of the page and then the species were listed.
As I said I miss this easy and quick way to look up and orchid for an ID.
My question is it possible to have something like that put in place on this forum?

Pawpaw, I'll make sure that Brent (the forum owner) sees your question.

Have you seen the "Orchid Genera" function? At the top of the page, the first line below the Orchids Forum title is the button Orchid Genera. By clicking on that it brings up a list of all of the genera that have been posted here. The size of the font corresponds to the popularity of that genus (number of postings). By clicking on the genus of your choice it brings up a chronological listing of the posts in that genus. I think it is probably updated daily because I just checked and your Bulbophyllum posts from today are not there yet.

I had forgotten about this. Not that useful if you notice that Dendrobium starts with 1 to 20 of 1000. They are listed with the most recent first and no option to sort them. The search function will get you to something if you know what you are looking for.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I miss the listing of relevant posts at the bottom of the page. It lead to many posts I had missed the first time around.

They aren't updated daily. I just checked for Koellensteinia that I posted on Tuesday and it isn't there.

Since I made my post above I've been looking at this. Seems very spotty on updates. Ricardo's post from yesterday is there but some genera haven't been updated since 2015.

    Ditto

Kelly, yes I have found the button for Orchid Genera but this only gives me the chronological order of the posts.. If I am looking for a particular species or hybrid I can't. With the other forum, as I said in my thread at the top of this page, I can go through a number of steps and come to a list of names of all the species and hybrids of the family you are looking for and see all the photos that had been uploaded of the species or hybrid.
