    Photo editing program?

Anyone have a suggestion for a half decent photo editing program? (preferably a free one) I have Windows Vista so I'm not sure what would be compatible with it. I'd like a program that lets me reduce/compress photo size without the picture getting all grainy and icky. For an example of what I mean take a look at photos I posted in the pets section. Oh and I am almost totally computer illiterate so if I sound dumb...well I am, on this subject.

    Thanks for any suggestions guys.

    PS....thanks for your help Marni!

Look for GIMP. It's widely used and it's free. I haven't been able to figure it out for myself, though. But I hear lots of good things about it.

I just got PhotoScape. It looks pretty good although haven't used it much yet. I think I got it from Cnet.com. Freebee.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I haven't had time to check them out yet but you can be sure that I will as soon as I get time. :D I want nice clear, crisp photos like everyone else has.
