pleione are they epiphytic/can be mounted?

I was some research on the pleione species, and even though they are considered terrestrial orchids they are also considered epiphytic. Here is a example: http://www.panglobalplants.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Manipur3331.jpg
Which brings up a question I have. Can they be mounted? With they proper materials of course.

 

Maybe not mounted but what about vertically potted?

 

Like in a net pot or plastic pot with the plant growing out the side instead of the top.

 

That's okay I was just curious. How shallow of a pot can it be? I have a 1.5 inch deep clay pot(water tray), and a few 2cm deep aluminium trays I thinking of using. But if not I will go by a deeper dish( I don't want to deep of a dish, fear of rotting them away)

 

Some research is telling me that they are cool growing orchids and should not be in temps exceeding 75 F. Is this true?
