This is a cute little species that seems pretty easy to grow at room temperature (68–72 °F). The cultivar is 'Forest's Alfonso' AOS/CHM with 82 points. It was named for me by a friend I made in Tennessee named Randy Bayer! I traded him some nice Masdevallia species for a piece and this is the first bloom!! I picked up a really nice, dark one of these from Ecuagenera that's about to bloom. I have my fingers crossed it blooms as dark for me as when I saw it at the nursery and if it does I would like to name it 'Randy Bayer' as thank you! It's kind of fun to be able to commemorate friendships in the names of plant cultivars.
