Above is a nobile type dendrobium cane with 2 keike's.

Above I am measuring where to cut the cane. I want it located on the very top of the pot. And cut accordingly

Above, a good tight fit means a happy keike with no rhizome clip. IMG_4079.JPG
Fill with material. My preference is clay pots, lava rock potting material so I can water every day.

Above is a den I did 3 years ago. My finger is pointing to the stem I cut to fit the pot. Leaving the stem gives the plant nutrition in the transition. In the pic just to the right of my finger is the original keike I harvested. Each new growth is bigger than the last.

Above, 3 years later the plant has 2 spikes.
This method is so easy, reliable, and quick. The time it takes me to make this thread I could have potted a bunch of keike's.....

This works on most keike's. On phals leave it attached to the spike. It will draw nutrition. Just let it rot off. they can be wired to a piece of cork also. maybe add moss...Thanks for the nice words!

Excellent step by step! I'm planning to repot my dendrobium keiki also. I got this plant from Orchid Republic in Sherman Oaks. I'm curious on where's the best location/light position to put it in once re-potted?

Dendrobiums are one of the largest number of species. And they have different needs. Ask orchid republic for the proper culture for your plant. You may consider reducing the light for the first few months...
