Pridgeonia insignis

Here is the one that is blooming for the first time. The flowers are not as large as I expected, hopefully they’ll get bigger over time. Still a young plant.

    From the scientific name I expected something that looks like a Pigeon on fire, this is nice too... just not a Pigeon on fire.

    This one is a REALLY new genus and species. The usual references (like Orchidroots and IOSPE) haven't even yet listed the genus, Orchidwiz has the genus but not the species. Had to go to Kew to find anything at all. I wonder how long the monotypic genus will last (they tend to go "poof" ) It's gorgeous!
