Many of you may be familiar with the wonderful orchid images of Ron Parsons. He has been co-author on several orchid books including the fabulous two volume A Compendium of Miniature Orchid Species.

For many years he was posting his images on Picasa which didn't show up in search engines. He is slowly transferring his images to his page on Flickr. He started with his many trips to photograph orchids and other plants. Even before starting on his orchid images he has 37,000 photos on Flickr. He recently started uploading albums of orchids and expects to double the total number. As of today, he has uploaded Acampe through Anoectochilus.

Take a look. This is an incredible resource.

A few years back we had him speak at the Houston Orchid Society and he was very entertaining and knowlegable. I appreciate his work.

I wanted to ask if any of you have had trouble viewing Ron's albums. I have had issues. I have always been able to view the albums uploaded when I first posted this thread. The last album at that time was Anectochilus. He has since uploaded more albums. With my default settings and as a "non-follower", I was unable to view any of the newer uploads. As of today Barkeria uniflora is the newest. Once I "followed" him, I was able to see all of the albums, but everything after Anectochilus was greyed out (1st image). When I clicked on an album I got the "Adult Content" warning (2nd image). If choose to change my personal settings to show it all, I can see all of his albums.

His settings are on Safe. Has anyone had this problem? Is there some setting in his account that would flag some of his images as adult? And why only the newer albums? Is it normal to have limited access to people you don't follow? Both he and I have stumbled around in flickr and can't seem to find what the problem is. Any comments on problems or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem, except that I cannot do anything to see the photos - seems to be specific local terms of service in Romania regarding adult content :(

Thank you for taking the time to comment. He and I have been trying to figure out if there is some setting in his account that makes it adult. They are just flowers.

If anyone understands what the problem might be, please speak up.

Did he tried to "manually" set his last photos as "safe" ?
    Steps:
    1. Batch organize ( Flickr Login )
    2. Select the photos and drag & drop them in the "Batch area"
    3. Manually set the "Safety filter" for the whole batch

    Does this help?

    Thank you,
    Dana

It does looks like SafeSearch setting. From what I understand, safety level (safe, moderate, restricted) is set by the account holder. It sounds like that he might accidentally changed the default safety level. When you look at this page:
    What are content filters?
There are 3 bullet points at the very bottom. He can click the 3rd one from the bottom:
Then it will take you to the default safety setting. The setting for:

Which safety filter will you normally need to put on your content?

    should be "safe".

I looked at a couple of the newer photos, and they do look like they are set to "safe", so I'm not sure if this is the problem.

Thank you Dana and Naoki for you input. He has looked at his Safety settings, but I don' think he has tried the "batch" yet. I don't understand why I can see the earlier posts but not the later ones. Flickr doesn't seem to be reading his later posts as safe since I can only see them if I acknowledge that I am over 18 and take responsibility for myself. Even with the moderate setting I can't see them. We'll keep working on it.

Marni, I can confirm that the safety level was causing the problem. Indeed, for some photos, the safety level was set to "restricted". Here is an example.

    Barkeria uniflora (Edo.Mexico) - M Turkel

If you scroll down, there is "additional info" at the bottom right corner, which shows safety level. So all he has to do is edit the safety level (as Dana mentioned), then make sure the default upload safety level is safe.

Again, a big thank you to Naoki and Dana for help solving this problem.

Dana, when you have a chance, take a look. You should be able to see them all once he finishes updating the setting. He is working on the albums that had "restricted" using the batch method you suggested. He is very relieved that he doesn't have to do the images one by one.

    Hi Marni,
Yes, I can see the photos now (even with SafeSearch on).
I am glad that the problem is solved and I am very grateful to Ron for all these beautiful photos he is sharing. :) I'm also grateful to you, for telling us about his photos.
    :) Thank you both!
