A couple weeks ago, I noticed on one my catts it had a couple leaves with scale.
I immediately put in in the segregation room and dipped it in acephate.
I'm so reluctant to use acephate but it works and works quickly. I've not had much success with pure neem oil and I don't like the smell.
Does anyone have a better solution to scale treatment than my using the acephate.
    Thanks, Leeflea

Merit & Enstar work great. The problem with insect issues is that the big guns are what's going to work for you. Neem Oil smells awful, and it really isn't going to be as effective as chemicals. If you use the chemicals as recommended on the labels, they are just as harmless (to humans and other wildlife) as Neem Oil.

How large is your collection? Jon is right, the big guns are your best bet. My collection is small enough that I get by with manual removal (toothbrush + rubbing alcohol). Keep in mind this won't be effective for curing infestations, but I've been very successful using it to prevent infestation in the first place with the occasional scale insect that pops up.
