Mine are dry for a couple of days between waterings. No moss on the roots. Even before I added extra humidity to the greenhouse they did very well this way.

Interesting. Ok, I'm going to back off some on the watering of all three of these and keep an eye out for signs of under watering. I think my daily watering this time of the year is probably fine, but if I don't remain vigilant I can see myself overdoing it in the next few months as it gets cooler and growth slows.

Just LOVE the foliage on this. And it is doing some amazing growth for you. Now I need to find one.

Hi Marni, @ S. scolopendria, does it handle the cooler temperature better than fragrans?

I haven't experimented with the culture. They did well in the first place I tried which was right where I had been growing fragrans.

Thanks for the post Marni. Katai gave me one last month and I could not find the name. Tom I will let you know how mine does with cooler temps.

Did you tell me you got yours from Andy P? Who is Katai?

I am thinking to buy one from Andy P. before the weather gets really cold.

    Katai Phrao from Thailand.
She was at Andy's and does a lot of international shows. She gave it to me as a gift with my preorder.

Just a side note. Her name is Katai and the company name is Phrao, but it isn't her last name. I saw here in May and asked her how she pronounced her last name expecting Prao or Frao. But it wasn't, it was very long with many syllables

    Marni is correct.
'Katai'/Janyaporn- Phrao Orchids Nursery (Chiangmai, Thailand)
I think it is in the Phrao District. Hence that name.
