I have no idea, Jon. They could get them from other forums.

I had never paid attention to this kind of thing until few days ago I saw my photo on usaorchids. It is a shame that they didn't ask for permission first.

I also found out LW Flowers(a cut flowers whole sale ent.) used four of my photos for their picture library and I don't understand the reason behind it since it is a cut flower business.

I am about to creat a wall of shame for photo theft...

Well there's an easy solution. Only post to OI. Only registered, logged in members can view images. :D

I have no problem suspending anyone who steals images from this site. If they do it again, I will permanently ban their account. Easy as that.

You should contact them and tell them you will initiate legal action if they don“t remove the photos.
I bet they will get real fast in removing those images.

    "Dear chris,

    Greetings,

Thanks for your quick message and sorry for the mixup. One of my new sales representatives took a photo from a foreign website instead of our personal show folder. This has been removed and I apologize deeply for the mishap. For certain things like this we do offer a 15% discount towards any purchase you make. Thanks again for quickly messaging me.

    Best regards,

Jon, pobably they also used Chris's photos without permission. I got the similar answer when I asked them to take my photos off. The 15% discount is laughable IMO. Why would you still patronize them after all and let them make more money from you?

I've just found out Seattle Orchids is still using one of my photos for their listing after all of these... WTF!

usaorchids(on ebay) is related to Seattle Orchids.

Take a series of screen-captures to document the their use of your copyrighted work, and send them a bill. $500 per photo is a reasonable charge for commercial use purposes.

    I'm not kidding.

Troy was having some problems with photo thieves. He then put the following notation on each photo page and the thefts cut way back.

"Please note that unauthorized use of photos registered with the US Copyright Office can result in statutory damages that range from $750 - $30,000, and for willful use up to $150,000. Ask permission first! See below."

The definitely do have connections with some asian exporter. Its a pump and dump place, just get rid of their orchids as quickly as possible.

Incredibleorchids, usaorchids, and seattleorchid are all the same business.

They are just one company IMO...

Seattle Orchids said they got my photos from their HI growers/nurseries, but usaorchids said the owner's son used my photos from a "different" photo file. Wether or not this "different" photo file was created by the owner's son, I don't know.

I know the Seattle Orchids people. I didn't realize they were selling online and on E-Bay, too. Incredibleorchids is definitely part of their operation, since it says so on the website. I can't find usaorchids, so have no idea whether that is related or not.

They can't use Seattleorchids as a name on E-Bay because I signed up with that name years ago, thinking I might sell a few things there. I never did. Now I wouldn't want to use the name for fear of being confused with their operations. No more comment, but this is an interesting thread.
