Well, I just spent almost 100 bucks on slug treats (25 lbs plus postage from Rosecare). This stuff had better be good!

 

Please let me know what you think about it. I've purchased two products so far that sounded good, but when they arrived they were the "same old" grain baits that mold quickly when damp.

The QueBane I used to be able to get was a granular bait that looked like very coarse sand or very fine-grained kitty litter and it was not affected by water. You could scatter QueBane by hand all over the greenhouse, on the plants, in the crowns of Phals, Paphs, and Phrags, and it would never rot or mold and didn't harm the plants.

 

Ed, what happened to QueBane? That's the absolute best remedy for bush snails, etc.
I've ever used.

 

Thanks Karen and thanks Tom in PA and thanks Marni for pointing me to this thread! The slugs had gotten the best of me and now finally I am retaliating!!!

 

I felt guilty last week...I must have dissolved 100 slugs with my salt shaker. It has been wet here and they have become numerous!!!!

 

Q.u.e. Bane is another metaldehyde product. What made it "better"?

 

I got my 25-pound bag of "That's It" metaldehyde 7.5%, and sprinkled it all over my pleurothallids. It does NOT mold!!! Madsies are blooming, no sign of slugs eating the buds. So far, so good.

 

Ray, No one could find Q.u.e. bane for sale. "That's It" sounded like a comparable product. Tom found it on line for a decent price.

Doc Elly, you don't want to get metaldehyde product in the growths of the plants, it won't help them It doesn't kill them, but if you do, the growths aren't the right shade of green, in my experience.

 

Karen, Thanks for the tip. I'll try to just get it on the medium and in the trays under the plants.

 

Marni, I have done damage to Neofinetia, & Cymbidiums, plants I would not have expected to damage!

Don't forget to let the plants really dry out after using this, to maximize the kill!
