I have never tried the "sphag and bag" for propagation. However, today I broke off an old leafless cane of my Dendrobium limpidum to give this a try. The cane I removed is still plump and green but entirely leafless. I have placed it on some moist sphagnum moss inside a sealed plastic bag. I don't know whether to give it light and warmth or dark and cool, etc? I currently have it nestled into the sphag with the upper surface exposed. Should it be completely covered? I don't know if this will work but thought it was worth a try. Any suggestions or thoughts?

Honestly, I have had zero success with this technic. I seem to rot any plant I try this with because I suspect air movement or the lack of...

But, I would keep the moss around a temp of 70-75 and give it good light. If its leafless, you may be better off just putting it in a pot of moss as most evaporation of the cane happens through the leaves. Humidity is key to keep the cane from shriveling and air movement is key with humidity to keep rot away.

A trick I used for seedling after I found out that they need humidity was I used a propagation dome and add a small computer fan on the side of the dome and a heat mat under the tray. Worked well....

I've tried a couple of times with no success.
