While repotting a Bulbo the other day I found these (see pictures), upon closer inspection I realized that they where Coqui eggs.

You missed your chance to help eliminate noise pollution. I guess you're use to the all night serenade.

So they don't go through the tadpole stage -- they just become frogs? That's interesting. Now I need to go Google coqui. Thanks for the pics. I'm always finding little ringneck snakes in my pots. I'd rather find frogs.

Ann, they go thru the phases but they do inside the egg. Most of these little guys were ready to hatch.

Clark, if I could sleep in South Bronx when I was younger what makes you think that a Coqui serena will even phase me???

Too cool, Neyra! I think coquis are cute, and I like their racket.

When we first visited the Big Island we drove down a beautiful road in a canopy of trees at dusk with the sunroof open and windows down. As we were passing Lave Trees park we heard this horrendous cacophony. It was coquis. At that time the outbreak was pretty new and they made a lame attempt to contain them that seemed to consist of cutting down all the trees.
Now they are rampant from Hilo throughout the Puna district up to a few thousand feet of elevation.
When we first bought our house I loved to go to sleep and wake up to the sounds of the rain forest. I now sleep with ear plugs in because of the fucking frogs.
Before someone defends them or points out that they are practically a national amphibian in PI, let me point out that in Hawaii they have no predators and are competing with the geckos for food.
I keep a spray bottle filled with citric acid handy and soak the bastards, every one I find.
Thanks for listening. My rant has now ended.
    Carry on...
