    Hi All

I purchased a BLC Chai Lin New City in November last year. It had two new leads, I re potted it in small clay rocks, perlite, Styrofoam balls and macadamia shells. After re potting it was doing well the new leads were getting bigger and starting to put out new roots. I went away middle December on holiday and returned early January. A fellow orchid grower took care of my plants while I was away.

Problem is that the two older Pseudobulbs are getting a blackish colour on them. The stunted roots are firm, turn green when watered and back to white when dry. The two new leads seem to be healthy.

Please advise on what's happening with the plant and what I should do from here?

    Thanks

I am hoping its not black rot/fungal infection within the bulbs. Maybe I should cut the two infected bulbs off at the base? The leaves have not been affected yet so I am reluctant to do any drastic measures yet.

The dark color may be pigment from being in bright light. Unless it is soft I personally wouldn't do anything drastic. Just watch it carefully. It isn't uncommon for orchids with dark colored flowers to have dark pigment show up in the growths.
