This is the first time this plant has bloomed for me and it is mislabelled. It was labelled as B. rufilabrum. It is a really interesting flower and any help with the ID would be appreciated.

    For size:
The tree fern mount is 8 inches tall.
The natural spread of the lateral sepals is ~ 1/2 inch or 11 mm.
The typical leaf is 6-7 inches
    Pseudobulbs are 1 - 1.5 inch.
The tallest inflorescence is 5 inches.

It looks similar to Bulb. scorpio, but I'm not entirely convinced that's the correct ID. I only know a little bit about the species.

Nicholas, thanks for the suggestion. I looked up B. scorpio and that is not a match. The long lateral sepals create a similar appearance but the flower structure is different. I'll keep looking.

    Hi Kelly,

How about Bulbophyllum gymnopus from Bangladesh, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam?

Reference: Seidenfaden, G. (1979) "Orchid Genera in Thailand: VIII - Bulbophyllum Thou." Dansk Botanisk Arkiv. Udgivet Af Dansk Botanisk Forening, Copenhagen.

    Cheers.
