Ok, so I got this orchid for Mother’s Day and now it’s sad. The leaf started out with two holes on the seam and a white spot to the right. I was told it looked like pests and to use a neem oil mixture to get rid of them. I used a mixture of neem oil, dish soap and water and sprayed top and bottom of leaf. It’s now been three days since I did that and the leaf has become floppy, leathery and mushy. It’s also almost transparent in some places. I don’t know if I should leave this leaf on, or cut it off? The only other leaf on the plant is completely healthy.

Hi Monique. Welcome to the forum.

It looks like that leaf has a fungal infection. It would be best to cut off the leaf as close to the base as possible using a razor blade or other very sharp clean blade. Treat the fresh wound with cinnamon powder.

If the infection has entered the main stem it will kill your plant but it is certainly worth trying to save it. Good luck.

Thank you! The other person that was helping me out kept telling me that it was no big deal, and the plant would drop the leaf if there was a problem with it. I hope I didn’t wait too long.
