I photographed this gorgeous wild orchid yesterday at the Atlantic Rainforest in southern São Paulo state, at 650m altitude. Amazingly it was growing as a creeper at a back wall of the lodge I was staying at! Its roots were in a small crack on the ground, in an ant's nest. I looked all over but did not find anything that looks like it.

I believe that it is in the genus Vanilla but can't say which species. There are several with the curly sepals and petals. Nice find.
