Romeo took 3rd place (with hubby) in the annual SPCA 5K marathon last weekend. He got a prize bag which he immediately peed on and his lovely medal. People were shocked a daschund could outrun all the other breeds. Don't know if one has ever placed before....I'm a proud mom. Sniff.:p

A Racing Weiner! How very cool. Congratulations to Romeo and his human!

Does he run with his human every day?

I go on walks with him, but hubby is the only runner in this family. They run at least 2-5 miles almost every day. This dog is the most fit dashund I've ever seen. Most look like tootsie rolls. They also roller blade together. People crack up and usually yell something like "look at those little legs go!" Hopefully they're talking about Romeo and not my husband.

    LOL!

Well, congratulations to them both. That is great. I run but only on a treadmill.

He's a boy, Dale. His manhood is plainly visible in the picture. I'm surprised Karen didn't freak out. ;)

WOOHOO for Romeo!!! He does look in fine shape. Good for you and for Romeo...the
tootsie roll kinds usually have all manner of back problems. He's a healthy looking boy!

I'm not up on the breed characteristics, judging etc. but honestly I think he's one of the nicest looking daschunds I've ever seen. He's come a long way since I rescued him and he was all ribs. It's too bad he was already neutered and no papers as a rescue. Although I'm not into bringing more unwanted animals into the world, I think he'd have been one to breed with. He's a standard size, not a mini.

If he ever gets fat it will be from eating too much cat poop in the back yard.

Oh, yeah. There are no resident cats here, but the neighbors have some, and there are quite a few feral cats around. The 'Princesses' will do just about anything for Cat-A-Roca. Damn it. Further scatophagia..... A few of the Princesses are quite immodest and instead of doing their duty in the adjacent copse of trees will crap in the tortoise yard, much to the delight of the tortoises.

My first thought at seeing him was what a fit doxie he is. Beautiful little dog and congrats on his neat medal, even if he did pee on it immediately. It made it HIS!

"the tortoises eat the dog crap?"

Yeah. Who doesn't like a hot breakfast? In the habitat, Leopard tortoises commonly eat hyena feces to help satisfy their calcium requirements.

Yummy. Bet the dogs pick up after the tortoises too. Romeo also favors guinea pig poo.
