Hi all, i have loved having orchids for many years but have not spent a lot of time looking after them.
Now with covid 19 i can spend more time looking after them and wish to do the right thing
I have some cimbidium which i have always bought and throw away each year as i never manage to get them to flower. I am now going to fertilise them fortnightly with a purple coloured fertiliser ( i bought from orchid shop but dont know the content) I have 2 bottles, one is blue and one is purple. I understand the purple is for roots and leaves and the blue is for flowers

My cimbidium is rather crowded but i also know that they like to be cosy. So how do i know when i should repot them

Secondly, i have some twig boards i bought years ago in Indonesia. I wish to know what type of orchids would flourish on the board. I did try twice and both were a disaster.
I put some fern round the roots and keep them moist, but didnt work

I also have a oncidium which has started to flower from a new 'cane' should i put fertiliser? Can i use the same fertiliser for the Oncidium and Cibidium and palaenopsis?
I hope i will get some replies
    Much thanks

Welcome. Some people switch fertilizers with the seasons. Personally, I don't do that. My guess is you would use the growth fertilizer during the spring and summer and then the bloom at other times of the year.

If you post a picture of you Cymbidium you might get some advice. Generally you repot orchids when the new growth starts. That is when they are most likely to be putting out roots that can then go into the fresh potting medium.

I don't know what a twig board is, so a picture would be good. Whether you can easily grow a mounted plant depends on your growing area. Humidity needs to be good for success with mounted orchids, so let us know where you are growing your orchids.
