In a recent post I asked members to write me a Personal Message (PM). Several people indicated that they did not know how to do a PM, so here is a quick lesson.

    1. You must be logged in.
    2. At the top right of the screen next to your username is INBOX. Put your cursor on INBOX and there will be a drop-down menu.
    3. From the drop-down menu select (click on) Start a New Conversation. This will bring up a screen that looks very much like an email screen.
    4. At the top of the conversation screen type in the username of the person(s) that you wish to converse with. Before you are finished typing the name the system will likely pop up some names that you can select from.
    5. Type in the conversation title or subject
    6. Type your message
    7. Click START A CONVERSATION at the bottom of the screen.

That's it. It is really easier than all of these steps make it sound.

If you receive a PM your screen will show a red alert square over INBOX. Click on INBOX and a list of your conversations will appear. Click on the message you want to read.

Just to add to what Kelly posted, you can also click on the username of the person of interest, in any thread that they have replied to, prompting a black box to appear which contains a link that will allow you to "start a conversation" - the link is located just under the individual's username/status and just above their statistics, between their "profile page" and "follow" links.

It's a bit of a shortcut and works especially well if you can't remember how to correctly spell their username...;)
